A Ramble to Start Something New

Around two years ago, I first became excited by the idea of starting a blog. I tried similar outlets in the past, namely writing Medium articles and my Tumblr account, but I wasn’t able to be consistent with either one, plus both individually came with their own challenges. For Medium, I wanted to write full-fledged, well-developed articles about topics I was passionate about, which is something that just required more time and energy than I was able to supply at the time. Tumblr, on the other hand, felt more of a place to interact with the topics I care about than to truly write long-form posts about them. And so, I am left with this; wormwood.net. A personal, fully customizable way to combine both short ramblings and more developed essays on whatever is that’s piqued my interest recently. That being said, consistency may still be an issue, but that is something I continue to work on everyday, even with activities outside of writing.

Consistency in general has been on my mind a lot recently. Well, more specifically, I’ve been thinking a lot about the intersection between the organization of ideas and the consistency of acting on them. I have a lot of personal projects planned that I try my best to not allow work or any other aspect of my life to get in the way of, but if there is one consistency in all of this, it’s my inability to do so. The solution? I honestly have no idea, and maybe that’s just what this blog is for. Recording my journey as I attempt to organize, develop, and eventually release all of the projects that I have been stockpiling in various notebooks, text message threads, and late night conversations with my ceiling over the last few years. With all of that said, I’m writing this post itself from my phone in the bathroom at work, so while it’s not the healthiest start, at least I am committing to making it work. Wish me luck and read along as I continue to neatly guide the traffic of the above mentioned intersection and hope to see some positive results on the other side.
